Instructor: Bettye Sweet, M.S.

Sweet’s first assignment in the LAUSD was at 49 th Street Elementary School teaching the Spanish curriculum to 4 th grade Latinos. She taught Language! and ESL at Jefferson High School for five years and night school ESL at Trinity Adult School. Sweet is a tenured teacher, publisher, author, and motivational speaker. She received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business from the University of Redlands, her Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology from the Union Institute and a Masters of Science Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from National University.

Our flexible schedule offers 1.5 hour classes twice weekly or 2.5 hour classes once weekly. CURRICULUM INCLUDES:

Spanish/English Dictionary
Personal Organizer that includes a 2,400-word English/Spanish Translator
Notebook
Certificate of Recognition.

Learning experience includes spatial concepts, alphabet, numbers, colors, shapes, family, food, clothing, weather, calendar, parts of the body, transportation, common expressions, verb conjugation, medical vocabulary, and basic sentence structure. Instruction which provides learning by incorporating all of the learning modalities. Listening, reading, writing, talking, and most importantly, DOing are all key to learning Spanish. Fun lesson plans that include games, puzzles, chants, reality skits, art, cooking, eating, personalized Final projects, and writing activities.
